Samantha Walters
Sam is a seasoned instructor at Expression Film Studio and has been part of our growing team since 2013. She spent four years studying acting for stage and screen full-time at the University of Winnipeg where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Honours in Acting. In addition, she is a proud graduate of Canada’s National Voice Intensive, a five-week intensive and professional actor training program previously held in Vancouver, B.C. It was there Sam discovered how to live more mindfully and truthfully in each moment on stage, in front of the camera and in life.
Sam has appeared in several local film and stage productions over the years and has experience sitting on both sides of the table in the audition room. Selected film credits include: This is Why We Fight (Prairie Kid Productions), The Trouble With Children (Electric Reel Productions), The Vaughn Jail (MTS Documentary), The Book Club Web Series (Bent Neck Films), In Plain Sight (Frantic Films). She also had the pleasure of working with the renowned Canadian filmmaker, Guy Maddin, on a portion of his silent film called Seances which was shot live at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
In addition to being an actor and acting coach, Sam works as a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in Manitoba. It was her experiences and training as an actor that led her to discover the field of speech-language pathology. Actors are excellent communicators and storytellers while SLP’s are experts in the science behind why and how we communicate. Ever passionate about learning, teaching, and helping others, Sam brings her unique background and experiences to her classes in a fun and educational way. She is a firm believer that the skills you learn in acting class are skills for life.
