Expressions is a school for all aspiring film actors! We are a locally owned business with the goal of providing high quality acting classes and workshops for Winnipeg’s aspiring actors. Our classes are designed to teach acting in the most accessible, safe, and educational way. Acting can be an extremely fun and impactful activity for all kinds of people. There are no guarantees...
Students from Expressions have acted in productions such as Tales from the Loop, A Dog's Purpose, Channel Zero, Heaven is for Real, Nobody, and other locally filmed shows and movies.
While we our proud of the roles our students have landed, getting parts is not a measure of success at our studio. If one of your goals is to act in real movies or TV shows, Expressions will guide you through the practical steps of auditioning for real productions. We think landing a part in a movie is an admirable goal for any actor who takes their craft seriously and is focused on the work - not the 'fame'.
Our goal is to teach your child the skill of acting. We are a professional school with qualified Instructors and carefully crafted lesson plans; therefore, your child will undoubtedly acquire new skills. Will these skills help your child get parts? The short answer to this is yes.
Now that is not a guarantee as the film industry works a lot on various factors that are many times outside of the actor’s control; however, practicing scene work, auditions, and improv will build confidence in your child’s skill set and that will surely lend its hand in your child’s performance career. If you want to take acting to the next level (as a working actor), we can assist you, but we just won’t place it higher in importance over hard work and dedication to the craft.

Imagine the courage it takes to perform a scene in front of others. In our classes, students find a safe and supportive space where they learn to be vulnerable and confident in who they are!
COMMUNICATION
Listening and reacting are fundamental acting skills that have real world value. In the age of smart phones and virtual reality, the ability to slow down and connect has become a forgotten art.
EMPATHY
Acting requires us to put ourselves in other people’s shoes. Through a variety of exercises, including sharing circles, we develop our innate ability to empathize and think beyond a singular viewpoint.
TEAMWORK
Acting is a group activity. We emphasize the importance of social skills which help us excel in acting and the real world. Many of our students make friendships that go far beyond the classroom!

If you’re interested in learning about film beyond just acting classes then you should apply to become a teacher’s assistant at EFS! TAs help run our classes and get to work closely with instructors. TAs also learn how to write scripts, film and edit, and work on special projects!
